WebSphere vs. JBoss cost analysis example using new VPC pricing

Earlier this week I met with an IBM customer to help them with the cost analysis for the new project that required an application server runtime for the 3rd party COTS application. This application is certified by the vendor to run on WebSphere Application Server and on JBoss EAP.

In this video below I retraced the steps of our discussion while using my Cost Calculator and you can see that WAS came out to be less than one third the cost of JBoss for this particular configuration. As always, your mileage may vary, but the new VPC pricing model for WAS is a real game changer.

Check out this video and make sure you ask your IBM sales rep for the VPC pricing for your WebSphere environment.
